Aus Paris stammt dieses Duo, fand ich überraschend, vor allem, da eine richtig super netter Kanadierin, die schon seit einiger Zeit in Florida lebt, mich auf dieses kleine Dance Stückchen aufmerksam gemacht hat – ich kann dazu nicht still sitzen, normalerweise ein gutes Zeichen, daher spiele ich die garçons am kommenden Samstag in meiner Sendung mit dem soeben gekürten, neuen Titel “Spektakel” – mit Empfehlungen zusammengestellt von Maren Molthan. The Harper Song (Steve, It’s Time To Leave) John Roby – kam vor etwa 2 Jahren heraus, aber ich habe es gerade erst entdeckt und weil der kanadische Premierminister immer noch munter daran arbeitet, totalitäre Verhältnisse zu schaffen, musste ich es einfach hier spielen – John Roby ist das am Klavier und singt darüber, dass Stephen Harper lieber abdanken sollte, anstelle das Parlament kaltzustellen und Steuerzahler-Milliarden für überzogene Gefängnisse und Abfangjäger mit grösster Verschleierung der wahren Kosten zu verschwenden – und damit herzlich willkommen in meiner musikalischen Bar hier im Wonnemonat Mai – das Wetter ist herrlich, die Nächte schon ungewohnt lau – leider gibt es gerade noch vor Redaktionsschluss sehr schlechte Nachrichten, anscheinend ist die Youtube Seite von Occupy Canada komplett geschlossen worden, wie die Bürgerbewegung auf ihrer Facebook Seite meldet, einer der Mit-Begründer, Derek … Continue reading →

Brandneu und mit großem Zulauf findet sich Halifax Rapper Kyle McKenna mit What Up, Steve, ein Titel, der am 15 März herauskommt, mit seiner Formation The Caravan, und das ist auch der Titel der Debut CD dieses Musikers – und damit herzlich willkommen zur Märzausgabe hier in der BarKanada – während die weiße Pracht hier so langsam wegschmilzt, spitzen sich die Diskussionen um die Erschließung der Teersande zu – ohne die Ölpipelines, alle drei oder vier der vorgeschlagenen Linien sind ja sehr umstritten und werden von vielen Ureinwohnern sowie auch weißen Siedlern in Texas und Oklahoma blockiert, also ohne die Pipelines können die enormen Bitumenvorkommen in Kanada’s Provinz Alberta nicht erschlossen werden, das weiß auch die Regierung. Idle No More, One Million Strong, ein Protest Song für die Widerstandsbewegung, die in Kanada augenblicklich zehntausende der kanadischen UreinwohnerInnen in Demonstrationen und Rundtänzen vereinigt, ich bin sehr glücklich Euch zu einer neuen Ausgabe der BarKanada begrüßen zu können, es scheint, als wenn Kanada nun endlich seine eigene Revolution hat, genau zwei Jahre nach dem der arabische Frühling in Tunesien begann – aber was ist Idle No More?
